THE BOOKMARKER

After playing outside all morning, Jyllian and Landon came bounding through the door. “Can we go to the library?” they asked.

“What a great idea! Let’s get cleaned up first,” Mom said.

On our way to the library, Mom reminded us, “Use your whisper voices inside the library, and be careful with the books. They don’t belong to you; we only get to borrow them.”

As soon as we got inside, Landon yelled, “Mom, Chuggington!”

“Inside voices, whisper please,” Mom reminded Landon.

“Mom, can we get this book?” he whispered excitedly.

“Yes, set it here by me and pick out some more,” she replied.

Jyllian soon picked out a book with stars and planets and another one with princesses. Landon found another book with trucks and tractors, and after checking them out, they headed home.

Running into the house, Landon yelled, “Daddy, Daddy, will you read me Chuggington?”

“Did you find a Chuggington book?” Dad asked. “Come climb up in the big chair with me, and I’ll read it to you.

“Mom, will you read the one about princesses at bedtime?” Jyllian asked.

Mom agreed, and Jyllian was off dancing.

It was soon time for bed, and Jyllian picked up her book. When she opened it up, a round, shiny brass bookmarker fell out; there was a unicorn engraved on it. “That wasn’t in the book in the library,” Jyllian said.

“Did you borrow this bookmarker from a friend?” Mom asked.

“No, Mom, I always return things when I borrow them,” Jyllian said

Then Mom asked Landon, “Landon, do you know who this belongs to?”

Landon just grinned, and all together we said, “It’s Tommy’s!”

We decided to put it on the bedside table in the guestroom for everyone to enjoy; Tommy could feel free to take it if he ever needed it again.
